Linkedin Stories

Paid Social

As we all were expecting, LinkedIn is the latest social media platform to add Stories to their platform. On June 25th, LinkedIn launched “LinkedIn Stories” for Australia and now we can access the temporary vertical status update option. Here’s the official overview:

LinkedIn Stories – Overview

“LinkedIn Stories is a feature that enables members and organizations to share images and short videos of their everyday professional moments.

Sharing Stories is an easy way to share your experiences and insights, and to build meaningful relationships with your professional community. LinkedIn shares Stories that you post for 24 hours.

Note: We’re currently testing the LinkedIn Stories feature. During this time, it’s only available to members and select LinkedIn Pages located in Australia, Brazil, France, the Netherlands, and the UAE. However, we’ll be releasing the feature more widely soon.”

You can engage with the LinkedIn Stories feature on the mobile app by:

  1. Creating a story – An individual profile or an admin of a LinkedIn Page can create a Story to capture images and videos and post them via the LinkedIn mobile app.
  2. Watching a story – LinkedIn members can view Stories via the LinkedIn mobile app.

So how do they work? They are pretty much the same as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp stories. The first thing you will see is the story bar on the top of the main feed when you open the app.

Tapping on a circle will then open the Story over your screen and it will continue cycling through stories until you tap the X to back out.

Creating a story is simple and straightforward. Just click on “Your Story” and either take a photo or upload a photo from your files. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. So why wouldn’t you add it to your marketing strategy?

In regards to paid advertising, at the moment it’s not possible to run any paid ads as Stories, but as we have seen with all the other social media platforms, it will happen sooner or later and we’ll be writing all about it.

Hope you enjoyed this blog, and if you have any questions about this feature or any topic you want explored, drop a comment below or give us a yell on Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin.
