Google Analytics has introduced Benchmarks, a feature that enables businesses to compare their performance with others in their industry. By using benchmarks, businesses can gain insights into their strengths and identify areas for improvement, supporting data-driven decisions that can boost results.
With data drawn from Google Analytics’ extensive user base, benchmarks are provided in percentiles (median, 25th, and 75th percentiles) across various industry categories. Businesses are grouped into peer categories based on industry details set during setup and signals from attributes like URLs and app characteristics, allowing for accurate comparisons.
Data privacy is a core focus: all benchmarking data is encrypted, aggregated, and private. Benchmarks are only available when there is enough data from similar businesses, with thresholds in place to maintain data quality and relevancy. Data is refreshed every 24 hours, giving businesses the most current insights for tracking progress.

Google has expanded the BigQuery export capabilities to include additional session-scoped traffic source fields. These new fields cover cross-channel data and other integration-specific contexts, offering deeper insights into traffic sources.
This enhancement provides greater channel analysis capabilities within BigQuery, aligning the available data with the comprehensive insights found in the Google Analytics interface. The new fields have been automatically incorporated into all existing Google Analytics BigQuery exports and are ready for immediate use.
