Google Adwords Metrics

Prominence

Prominence is an indication of how visible your ad will be on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). It is determined by:

  • Ad position: The higher up an ad is placed on the SERP, the more likely people are to see it and the more prominent it is. (see Top and Absolute Top Metrics)
  • Ad format: Ads with ad formats garner more attention than those without, making them more prominent.

Prominence is largely measured by the average change in CTR (Click-Through Rates) from changing either ad position to a higher one or implementing an ad format.
